Greenstat AS will develop and operate projects related to sustainable energy and technology, including projects that support the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy production and consumption.
Originating from the R&D environment at Christian Michelsen Research in Bergen, Greenstat will apply an evidence-based approach combined with decades of experience to ensure the best choices.
Currently our main focus areas are local energy and green hydrogen production.
Hydrogen as an energy carrier has been a discussed topic for years and has been written off by many due to low energy efficiency. Even though hydrogen is worse off than batteries when considering energy efficiency, there are many arguments regarding the future’s zero emission energy systems speaking in hydrogen’s favor. One of the great advantages is hydrogen’s independency of a centralized power grid for storage and distribution. Hydrogen also grants the possibility of decentralized energy production. The weight of the batteries makes it very difficult to utilize these on greater vehicles and ships. In these cases, hydrogen is favorable due to significantly lower weight and refill times.
